Comprehensive Inflow & Infiltration Solutions
Project Overview:
GBA was selected to establish a comprehensive plan to address inflow and infiltration removal from the City’s sanitary sewer collection system. To accomplish this, an accurate, up-to-date inventory of the collection system had to be established. GBA provided administration, GIS map creation and inventory, reporting, flow monitoring, I/I identification, growth potential evaluation, hydraulic capacity modeling, and I/I field investigation recommendations.
The team established a comprehensive three-phase plan for the City to address I/I removal from the sanitary sewer collection system. To accomplish this, two seasons of flow monitoring were performed to ensure enough wet-weather reactions were captured. Growth potential evaluation and hydraulic capacity modeling were both completed and provided valuable data for the City to incorporate into future project planning. The flow monitoring analysis pointed out several basins within the City that showed evidence of excessive I/I parameters, and a multi-year SSES schedule was created.
The ultimate goal of these steps is to create a CIP for the City to implement, reducing wet-weather reactions at the treatment plants and ensuring the continued functionality of its sanitary sewer system.
