Project Overview

The Brookside 51 project is located at the entrance to the UMKC campus and consists of a developer-led, design-build project to construct a multi-story, mixed-use facility. The facility is occupied by a Whole Foods grocery, medical offices, apartments and an associated parking structure. The 170 luxury apartments include one- and two-bedroom floor plans. Amenities in the building include a fitness center, on-site clubhouse, game area and deck featuring a yoga terrace, fire pit, outdoor grills, seating and community garden.

GBA served as the building permitting agent on behalf of the University of Missouri System.

Services included:

  • Establishing procedures to manage the building permit process with the University of Missouri System Authority Having Jurisdiction
  • Reviewing plans, specifications and construction documents for compliance with the University of Missouri adopted building codes
  • Reviewing deferred and construction submittals
  • Issuing building permits
  • Attending design, pre-construction and coordination meetings
  • Performing site visit inspections and delivering inspection reports
  • Issuing Temporary Certificates of Occupancy (TCO)
  • Issuing Final Certificates of Occupancy (FCO)
