Lead and Copper Rule Revision Funding Deadlines
On August 4, 2022, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released Guidance for Developing and Maintaining a Service Line Inventory to help water systems comply with the Lead and Copper Rule Revision requirements to prepare and maintain an inventory of service line materials.
State agencies are currently soliciting entities to submit information on Lead Service Line projects to be included in their current fiscal year’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) programs for Lead Service Line Inventory and Replacement projects. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) appropriated additional funds for the DWSRF program, including appropriations specific to lead service line inventory and replacement activities.
For all eligible lead service line replacement loans that serve Disadvantaged Communities, 49% of the loan will be forgiven until available funds are exhausted. Entities are encouraged to check with their respective state agency to verify the Disadvantaged Community criteria and the terms of any funding.
Initial Project Information Submittal Deadlines for SRF Funds:
- June 15, 2023 Kansas Department of Health and Environment
- May 31, 2023 Missouri Department of Natural Resources Financial Assistance Center
- May 23, 2023 Texas Water Development Board
The current deadline to submit initial Service Line Inventories is October 16, 2024.
