Doug Van Meter as Next President and CEO
LENEXA, Kansas – August 28 — The GBA Companies, Inc. Board of Directors (BOD) is pleased to announce that Doug Van Meter has been selected as the next President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for GBA Companies, Inc.*
Van Meter assumed the President’s role effective July 25, 2024, and will assume the CEO role in early 2025, following the retirement of Dan Abitz.
“As I approach my retirement, we wanted to be proactive, deliberate and purposeful in this transition to ensure the right person was selected to lead the organization,” said Dan Abitz, current CEO of GBA Companies, Inc. “I am confident that Doug is the right person to drive us toward continued success, building on the momentum we have gained over the last 55 years.”
Van Meter has held various positions at George Butler Associates since 1996, starting as an intern and progressing to Senior Vice President of Operations. He serves on the GBA Companies Inc. Board of Directors, leading several Board committees. He possesses a deep understanding of the organization and exemplifies the culture, core values and company vision of Achieving Excellence through Collaboration, Innovation and Diversification.

As President and CEO of GBA Companies, Inc., Van Meter will be responsible for the organization’s overall performance, blending visionary leadership with a deep understanding of day-to-day operations. He will work closely with the BOD to shape the company’s long-term strategic direction, prioritizing decisions that enhance shareholder value and guide the organization toward sustainable growth. Van Meter will oversee the execution of strategic decisions, collaborating with affiliate leadership to meet revenue, profit and growth targets ensuring that operating and market strategies align with the GBA Companies Strategic Plan.
