A New Chapter
As previously announced, following the retirement of longtime GBA leader Dan Abitz on February 28, 2025, Doug Van Meter has assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and President of GBA Companies, Inc.
For over 25 years, Doug Van Meter has been instrumental in shaping GBA’s growth and success. As a director on the first GBA Companies Board of Directors, he now steps into the CEO role, focusing on advancing the company’s vision of Achieving Excellence through Collaboration, Innovation, and Diversification.
As CEO, Van Meter is responsible for the company’s overall strategic direction, financial performance and operational excellence.

- People Development & Culture: Championing a strong, learning-focused culture by fostering employee development, reinforcing company values and supporting initiatives that promote continuous improvement and organizational growth.
- Financial & Strategic Leadership: Collaborating with affiliate leadership to develop and execute strategic plans and financial objectives, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Strategic Execution: Leading the implementation of GBA Companies’ Strategic Plan, ensuring engagement across all affiliates.
- Leadership & Succession Planning: Driving leadership development and succession planning by collaborating with affiliates to identify and prepare key staff for executive roles, ensuring business continuity and long-term stability.
